Professional Background
In addition to his legal practice, Maruli has extensive experience leading various emerging legal entities, including serving as Chairperson of the management of a Legal Aid Institution—until it successfully obtained accreditation from the National Law Development Agency (BPHN), Ministry of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia—as well as serving as Director in several Limited Liability Companies until the completion of their effective operational licensing. On several occasions, Maruli has also been specifically involved in the management structure of Limited Liability Companies (Board of Commissioners) to address and resolve shareholder disputes.

- Representing a group of companies in the national private television broadcasting sector in Indonesia in filing a lawsuit for unlawful conduct related to an improper execution of pledged shares in violation of capital market regulations, committed by a foreign legal entity, with material damages claimed at approximately Rp 5,600,000,000,000 (five trillion six hundred billion rupiah).
- Representing one of the largest securities companies in Indonesia in responding to a lawsuit for Unlawful Acts filed by a former client of PT Jouska Finansial Indonesia, an investment consulting and financial advisory company, who opened a securities account / Investor Fund Account (RDI) at the client company. The lawsuit reached a value of approximately Rp 64,000,000,000 (sixty-four billion rupiah) and resulted in a ruling of Niet Ontvankelijke Verklaard (inadmissible lawsuit) in favor of the client.
- Assisting clients in collaboration with Public Accounting Firms (KAP) in conducting investigative audits of corporate management. To date, Maruli has been involved in more than thirty (30) investigative audits.
- Representing a telecommunications company in Indonesia — a subsidiary of a Japanese cellular telecommunications corporation — in filing a Petition for Annulment of a Labor Inspectorate Audit Report deemed to constitute a concrete, individual, and final Administrative Decision (KTUN). Maruli successfully prevailed in the case.
- Defending a client serving as the Regent of a district in Indonesia during the investigation by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) and throughout the court proceedings on allegations of “joint and continuous corruption”, charged under Article 12 letter a of Law No. 31 of 1999 on the Eradication of Corruption as amended by Law No. 20 of 2001 jo Article 55 paragraph (1) number 1 of the Criminal Code jo Article 64 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code.
- Representing a Foreign Direct Investment (PMA) textile manufacturing company (garment) — licensed manufacturer for Puma, Adidas, Nike, and Lacoste — in defending against a lawsuit for the annulment of a Joint Agreement notarized by the Industrial Relations Court, filed by 190 former employees, with claims amounting to approximately Rp 8,000,000,000 (eight billion rupiah). The case was successfully won in favor of the company.
