Ricky is also active in politics, having held several key positions in a national political party, ranging from Chairperson of the Legal Aid Institution to Secretary of the Party Court.
Before initiating the establishment of the law firm Margono—Ismawan & Co., Ricky previously founded a law firm that became one of the 30 largest law firms in Indonesia according to Hukum Online, and was awarded Insurance Law Firm of the Year by Asian Legal Business, Thomson Reuters, among others.

As one of the founders of Margono—Ismawan & Co. (MICO), Ricky has extensive experience in handling various cases throughout his career as an Advocate. Below are several selected case portfolios handled by Ricky:
- Representing a group of companies in the national private television broadcasting sector in filing a civil lawsuit for unlawful acts committed by another legal entity, with material damages claimed at approximately Rp 5,600,000,000,000 (five trillion six hundred billion rupiah).
- Representing one of the largest securities companies in Indonesia in responding to a civil lawsuit filed by a former client of PT Jouska Finansial Indonesia, related to an investment consulting and financial advisory dispute concerning securities accounts / Investor Fund Accounts (RDI). The lawsuit value reached approximately Rp 64,000,000,000 (sixty-four billion rupiah). Ricky successfully secured a ruling of Niet Ontvankelijke Verklaard (inadmissible lawsuit).
- Representing a nickel mining company holding an Operation Production Mining License (IUP-OP) in defending against a lawsuit for Environmental Damages filed by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia, with damages claimed at approximately Rp 50,000,000,000 (fifty billion rupiah) for ecological losses, economic losses, and reimbursement of environmental dispute verification costs. Ricky successfully obtained a decision of Niet Ontvankelijke Verklaard (inadmissible lawsuit).
- Representing one of the largest general insurance companies in Indonesia in a property insurance dispute involving Construction Erection All Risks and Erection All Risks Insurance policies, filed by a multidisciplinary construction and engineering company focusing on power plant development and supporting infrastructure. The lawsuit value was approximately Rp 20,000,000,000 (twenty billion rupiah) through Ad-Hoc Arbitration. Ricky won a partial decision, limiting the insurer’s compensation liability to approximately Rp 7,000,000,000 (seven billion rupiah).
- Representing the same general insurance company, in the acquisition process by an affiliate of a major conglomerate in Indonesia engaged in pulp and paper manufacturing, agribusiness, food and beverage, financial services, real estate development, telecommunications, energy and infrastructure, healthcare, and education. The transaction value reached approximately Rp 160,000,000,000 (one hundred sixty billion rupiah).
- Appointed as Receiver and Administrator in a restructuring / Suspension of Debt Payment Obligation (PKPU) process involving a palm oil company in Malinau, East Kalimantan.
- Representing a Foreign Direct Investment (PMA) company engaged in interior & furniture manufacturing in filing legal measures to annul the Tax Assessment Letter for Luxury Goods Sales Tax Underpayment (SKPKB PPnBM). The assessment was successfully annulled (declared null), with a tax underpayment value of approximately Rp 13,500,000,000 (thirteen billion five hundred million rupiah).
